Spanning over reserve forests of 11 villages, this sanctuary houses this majestic and feared creature, that’s considered to be even more dangerous than leopards. The sanctuary, one of the top places to see in Gujarat, houses the largest population of sloth bears in the region along with hundreds of species of flora and fauna.
Amidst miles of rare tree species like teak, timru, sadad, charoli, etc. you can spot unique wildlife like cobra, Russel’s viper, leopards, four-horned antelopes, civet cats, etc. Its location atop the Ratanmahal hill and rugged landscape makes one feel as if one is visiting a beautiful hill station.
Highlights of the place: The close-by tribal towns of Baria and Chhota Udepur gives a unique opportunity to meet the locals. Kanjeta eco-campsite with its orientation centre is the perfect place to experience the wilderness up and close. Visit the majestic River Panam that originates inside the sanctuary.
Location: Kanjeta, Gujarat
